I wrote short stories as a child, and studied poetry after a degree in film. Telling stories is what has always made me tick, but when I found out I could use that to help brands win, I knew I’d stumbled upon my dream career.

Now I’m a mum of a seriously cute baby boy, I live by the sea, and I’m still just as obsessed with finding words that fit like perfect puzzle pieces.

How it works — my copywriting process

The discovery call

We have a quick chat to find out if there’s a fit — you briefly take me through your needs and I explain where to go from there. And then hopefully it’s a match!

The boring bits — estimate, contract, brief and invoice

Then comes the time for housekeeping. I send you a formal estimate for the project which you can approve or request changes to. I’ll then prepare a contract, a detailed project brief and an invoice for 50% of the estimated project rate Whenever I receive the completed contract and the invoice is paid, we can get going.

The brand questionnaire

I send you a brand questionnaire to capture all the nitty gritty of your brand and your vision. Research forms the cornerstone of my work, so this is a super crucial step for me to get everything I need.

The draft and revisions

I get going on a draft and send it to you for any revisions. We keep everything on Google Docs so that you can comment any requests for changes and I can take care/keep track of every single detail.

I always welcome your feedback for review and adjustments. Every piece undergoes meticulous review, editing, and proofreading to ensure quality and consistency before delivery.

The delivery

Once I send you the final version, you’ll have two weeks to request any final edits. If you’re also working on design, I provide a complimentary post-design look through of the copy to check it all works.

I’m always available for any additional support — whether that be blog posts, case studies or emails.

What industries do you write for?

I’ve written for pretty much every industry under the sun over the years, but I have expertise in tech, all things B2B, finance and human resources.

How much do you charge?

I charge £50 per hour, but I’ll be very happy to quote your specific project. Just email me for a detailed estimate :)

How does payment work?

I send you a Stripe-payable invoice for 50% of the project fee before we start, and then send you another invoice for the remaining amount once the project is fully completed and approved.

What different copywriting services do you provide?

I provide website copywriting, blog post writing and management, brand messaging frameworks (my unique brand strategy offering), case study writing, and more.

Do you own the copyright to the work?

Once the final invoice is paid, the copyright is signed off to you and you can do whatever you please with it, under your name/brand.

Could you handle projects with short notice?

Ideally, I require a minimum of two weeks to schedule in new projects. However, if you have urgent copywriting needs and I have availability, I’m always happy to do my utmost to accommodate you. Please note, I cannot guarantee availability.

What copywriting experience do you have?

I’ve been a copywriter since 2017. Over the years, I've crafted copy and content for hundreds of businesses spanning various industries and sizes across the globe. My experience extends to partnerships with many different marketing agencies and studios.

How long do projects take?

The timeframe of our project together is based on several factors: the project's scope and intricacy, your desired turnaround time, the promptness of information provided by you, and my current workload. Typically, I can deliver shorter pieces within that same week. However, larger, more intricate projects that require extensive research or interviews may need additional time. I do tend to prioritise both speed and quality, ensuring a meticulous approach without sacrificing precision. Before starting the creative process, we'll establish a mutually agreed-upon deadline during our initial discussions.

  2. Once I have some details about your project, I’ll create a detailed quote and send it to you ASAP.

  3. Once you approve the quote, I’ll send you some questions to gather more information about your background, your product or service, your message, and your target audience.

  4. I’ll then create an initial draft for you to review and request changes on. This all happens on Google Docs for effortless iterations!

  5. Once you’re happy with the copy/content, I send you all the files and the final invoice.

What information do you need?

I believe in thorough preparation for great quality copy. Therefore, I spend a lot of time gathering information. I do this with a brand questionnaire which you can fill out in your own time. The more details you provide about your company, product, or service, as well as any preferences you have for tone, style, and content, the better.

What if I have to change the project details or cancel it altogether?

I offer a quote based on our initial discussion, which covers reasonable revisions within the original scope. If there are substantial changes, we'll discuss adjustments to the timeline and cost. In the event of project cancellation after I've begun work, a cancellation fee of up to 50% will apply.

How do you deal with confidentiality?

Given the nature of my work, I routinely handle sensitive information. Confidentiality is very important to me and I safeguard my clients' trust without compromise. If you require additional assurance, I'm absolutely willing to sign a confidentiality agreement or NDA.

Why don’t you charge per word?

Simple answer: quality over quantity. While I can quickly produce web content, sometimes crafting a single line of copy takes days. Paying per word often leads to bloated content filled with unnecessary fluff. I charge for the quality of the message and writing, not the number of words I churn out.

Is the content you write SEO optimised?

Whatever anyone tells you, no one can guarantee a first page ranking. There are so many factors that come into play that it would be impossible to fully control.

However, the quality of content plays a massive role, and I have a proven track record of creating content that ranks high. I’m able to optimise your on-page content and off-page SEO to increase your chances of ranking well for relevant search terms.

What if I don’t like the first draft?

I do my best, but I'm not perfect.

I aim to get the copy right the first time, with minor tweaks if needed. Your feedback helps me improve the content until you're happy with it, and revisions are included in my fee. If we ever don't quite meet expectations, we part ways amicably.

Will you be able to write for me if you haven't got any relevant experience in my field?

Absolutely! I've had the pleasure of collaborating with a really diverse range of brands throughout the years. Wondering how I manage that?

Research is key. I dive deep into understanding your audience, scout competitor websites, sift through reviews and testimonials, explore blogs, forums, and more. All before even putting pen to paper.

So, expect a nifty brand questionnaire to fill out with all the pertinent details.
