3 Ways to Boost Conversions With Your Website Copy
You’re stressed, you’re overworked, and you’ve got so much going on - how can you possibly make time for transforming your website copy into a lead-converting mega-machine?
Well, ya can’t. Meanwhile, the branding and marketing gurus all over Instagram are either telling you to:
Just calm down
Completely overhaul your business
Ehh, neither of these will do. First of all, the most irritating thing ever is someone telling you to calm down when you’re just simply not calm. Secondly, you’re in this situation because you want to scale your business, not bring things to a total halt while you reevaluate your whole operation. No, there must be something better out there.
While copywriting is an art form in itself, it does come with some pretty actionable tips and tricks that you can incrementally implement through time. I’m not going to lie, you won’t be able to see immediate life-changing results. No sudden jump in conversion rates, that’s for sure. But you’ll be able to take control of your brand’s messaging, and start building a website that represents your voice, tone, and ideas.
So, without further ado, let’s explore some good old tips and tricks for improving your website copy without a huge investment.
By the way, I’ve got a handy-dandy Website Makeover service available if you need a quick fix for your website copy. It only costs $350 and you’ll get a powerful website copy overhaul in just one day. Click here to book a slot!
Make sure your content is skimmable
If you’re anything like me, you’ll click off a page if it’s just one big block of text slapped onto a background. There’s nothing worse than overwhelming your readers and forcing them to leave.
A text pile of the same size and alignment is a reader’s worst nightmare. That’s why my first tip is to go through every single page on your website and make sure paragraphs are as short as they can be.
Imagine yourself dropping the mic anytime you can - get those bold statements out and don’t be afraid to shine through. Your readers won’t have a choice but to keep reading.
Always tell your readers where to go next
So, you’ve got your readers hooked, and you’ve given them what they want. They’re starting to think of you as a really amazing brand. But what now?
Well, if you don’t give them any prompts, they’ll just leave. They say you’ve got an average of 30 seconds to provoke an action when someone visits your website. That means that within 30 seconds, you have to have given them a call to action.
Calls to action can be a number of different things:
Buy, Shop, Order, Reserve, Save, Add to Cart, Pick, View
Try, Get Started, Subscribe, Sign Up
Donate, Commit, Volunteer, Adopt, Give, Support
Subscribe, Join, Sign Up, Refer,
Download, Get, Grab, Claim, Take advantage of
Learn More, See More, See How, Start, Find Out, Check it Out, Click here, Continue, Swipe Up,
Bonus tip: always put your email address + any other contact methods clearly displayed on your website. Make it extra easy for visitors to reach out to you. That’s how you catch those who aren’t fully convinced with your service/product.
Don’t forget social proof
I’m always telling my clients that social proof is the golden ticket. Ultimately, the most efficient way of converting leads is by showing them similar people loved your offering.
There are plenty of ways to do that:
Show actionable milestones, like “we have helped X clients” or “we get our clients X results each month”
Showcase user-generated content
Show your audience’s love for your product/service by displaying testimonials
Show the size of your customer base
Show your rating
Takeaway
What I will say for sure is: don’t sweat it. Marketing needs to fit around your daily workflow, and though it’s important, it shouldn’t be a hassle. If you feel like you can’t manage, reach out to me - I’ll be more than happy to help!
